One of my officemates asked me, “Do you have plans on going back to the Philippines for a vacation?”.

“Hmm, good question. It depends on whether my boyfriend comes here or not. I’d love to go home, though.”, I said.

Then I wondered, should I be calling the US as my ‘home‘? My family is here. I don’t have possessions back there. All I have in the Philippines are my friends (and Ozzie). I guess it never really sank-in that I’m not going back, unless it’s a vacation for a week or two.

Should I accept that I have a new ‘home‘? This is where I’ll be for the rest of my life. I’ve established a new life here. Despite that, I guess I can never replace the Philippines as my home. I can add this country to my list of homes [(by calling home.add(unitedStates)], but I can never remove [home.remove(philippines)] or replace [home.set(0, philippines)] the Philippines. When you print it out, the Philippines is still the first (It’s a list, duh).
They say Home is where the heart is. Well, my heart is still in the Philippines.

Yeah, someday I’ll go back home.
